The total package for the 10 days to Delhi to Paro • Thimphu • Punakha • Phobjikha – Bhutan. To register you will need to complete the following form with a photocopy of your current passport and a $500.00 non-refundable deposit. Please make your check payable to: Namgyal Monastery. Please write Bhutan - Pilgrimage in the memo. Once we receive your completed form and deposit, we will begin the registration process.

Please note: Official registration begins July 25, 2026. We will process the registration material in the order of which it was received. The final payment must be made by no later than 15th October 2026.

  • Pilgrimage Cost to Paro -Thimphu – Punakha – Phobjhikha - Bhutan is $5,000.00 per person (Includes Room, Board and Internal Transportation in India and Bhutan) If one would like to take a single room there will be an extra $700.00 

 

  • The Price Includes: All lodging (double occupancy; some private rooms will be available on a limited basis for an extra charge), all meals in India and Bhutan.

 

  • The Price Does NOT Include: Visa fees, airport taxes, miscellaneous transportation other than what is scheduled for the group, spending money, emergency evacuation insurance (required), travel insurance (recommended), expenses for meals that participants choose to purchase outside the scheduled meals, medicine, immunizations, personal tips, extra luggage fees, hotel laundry service, personal offerings at temples and monasteries, extended stay beyond the scheduled trip dates, changes to or extensions of air ticket, express mail delivery of air tickets.

 

  • Cancellation Policy: In the event that a participant cancels their tour and requests a refund, the In the Steps of the Buddha Committee will consider a full or partial refund (less the $500 deposit) on an individual case-by-case basis. The $500.00 deposit is non-refundable.

 

  • Please read the following information carefully: All participants are advised to check with their health insurance carrier as to coverage abroad and for precautionary medical treatment for travel in India and Bhutan. Namgyal Monastery requires that all participants have both health coverage and emergency evacuation insurance for the duration of the trip. Travel insurance is also highly recommended. Although this program is designed to accommodate people of varying ages, please note that there will be periods of aerobic walking and stair climbing due to the design of some temples and the steep topography of certain areas. All participants are advised to see their health care provider well in advance to ensure that they are in good health at the onset of the trip. We also require that you inform both Namgyal Monastery and the program instructors of any chronic or acute health problems that might impact your travel in India and Bhutan. Namgyal Monastery and the program instructors will take the utmost care and precaution in all stages of the planning and executing this program, but there is always the potential for physical dangers. Please be advised that we cannot always guarantee your safety, but we can assure you that your safety, comfort, and the quality of your experience are of paramount importance to us. Namgyal Monastery Institute of Buddhist Studies cannot be held accountable for any unforeseen occurrence that should happen while the tour is underway in Bhutan.

  •  • Day 1 – 22nd Oct, 2026
  • Arrival in Paro - Drive to Thimphu - Overnight: Thimphu
  • Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your guide and driver of Druk Dakini Travels.

 

  • Enjoy a scenic drive towards Thimphu. It will take 1 hour 15 minutes drive to Bhutan’s charming capital, Thimphu.
  • After hotel check-in and lunch, enjoy a relaxed afternoon visiting:
  • * Buddha Dordenma
  • * Memorial Chorten
  • * Tashichho Dzong outside if government offices are open
  • Spend the evening strolling along Norzin Lam, exploring cafés, handicraft shops, and local boutiques.

 

  •  • Day 2 – 23rd Oct, 2026
  • Explore Thimphu - Overnight: Thimphu
  • After a leisurely breakfast, enjoy a full day discovering Bhutan’s unique capital.
  • Visit:
  • *Tango Monastery (Hike)
  •  * Folk Heritage Museum
  •  * National Textile Museum
  • * Motithang Takin Preserve
  • * Centenary Farmers’ Market weekends
  • *Visit Zulukha Nunnery.
  • Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.
  • The evening is free for shopping, café hopping, or an optional traditional hot stone bath or spa treatment

 

  • • Day 3 – 24th Oct, 2026
  • Thimphu to Punakha - Overnight: Punakha
  • After breakfast, drive toward Punakha via the beautiful Dochula Pass 3,100 m. Stop to admire the panoramic Himalayan views and the famous 108 stupas.
  • Continue to Punakha and visit:
  • * Chimi Lhakhang Temple of Fertility
  • * Punakha Dzong
  • * Suspension Bridge
  • Check into your riverside hotel and enjoy a peaceful evening surrounded by nature.

 

  •  • Day 4 – 25th Oct, 2026
  • Punakha to Phobjikha Valley - Overnight: Phobjikha
  • After breakfast, drive through picturesque countryside to the beautiful glacial valley of Phobjikha.
  • Visit: 
  •  Gangtey Monastery
  • * Gangtey Nature Trail
  • * Black-necked Crane Information Centre seasonal
  • Spend the remainder of the afternoon relaxing and enjoying the tranquility of one of Bhutan’s most beautiful valleys.
  • Optional evening:
  • * Traditional hot stone bath
  • * Bonfire under the stars weather permitting

 

  • • Day 5 – 26th Oct, 2026
  • Phobjikha to Paro - Overnight: Paro
  • After breakfast, enjoy a relaxed drive back to Paro with scenic stops along the way.
  •  After hotel check-in, enjoy a leisurely afternoon visiting:
  • * Paro Town
  • * Local cafés
  • * Handicraft shops The evening is free to relax before the Tiger’s Nest hike.

 

  • • Day 6 – 27th Oct, 2026
  • Tiger’s Nest Monastery Overnight: Paro
  • After breakfast, embark on Bhutan’s most iconic experience—the hike to Taktsang Tiger’s Nest Monastery.
  • Guests who prefer not to hike may enjoy:
  • * The Taktsang Viewpoint Café
  • * Kyichu Lhakhang
  • * Traditional farmhouse visit
  • * Spa and wellness session After the hike, enjoy a relaxing hot stone bath to soothe tired muscles. Celebrate the evening with a traditional Bhutanese farewell dinner featuring cultural performances.

  • Explore Paro Overnight: Paro
  • Enjoy a leisurely breakfast.
