The Kalachakra (The Wheel of Time) is a unique system of the highest yoga tantra in Tibetan Buddhism. Its practice is considered very subtle and important to the cultivation of personal inner peace and, by extension, the cultivation of world peace. His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama has given many Kalachakra initiations, and provided numerous teachings on Kalachakra throughout the world. His Holiness has designated Namgyal Monastery in Ithaca as Du Khor Choe Ling, The Land of Kalachakra Study and Practice.
The Kalachakra Six Session Guru Yoga text provides a relatively short form of this profound practice. The practice of guru yoga is considered an important aspect of tantric practice in Mahayana Buddhism. Tantric meditation largely depends on the inspiration of the teacher (guru) that is transmitted through an unbroken lineage of the teachings and practice. Hence, guru yoga is both an essential foundation and the life force of the path in tantric practice.
The Jordruk, Six Unions is one of the Eight Great Chariots of the Practice Lineage that embodies the pith instruction of the practice of Kalachakra.
During this weekend intensive, Rinpoche will provide explanation on these two important Kalachakra practices.
Students who wish to attend this teaching should either have already received the Kalachakra Initiation or have a strong aspiration and commitment to receive the initiation in the future.
