Schedule

Teaching and special events at Namgyal-Ithaca include a broad range of opportunities for those interested in learning about Tibetan Buddhism and those hoping to advance their practice.

Teachings are anchored by the Fall-Spring class schedule which includes once a week meetings lasting 10-12 weeks. Courses range from introductory sessions on Tibetan Buddhist philosophy and practice to challenging readings and discussions of concepts in both Sutra and Tantra. Beyond classes, there are Weekend Intensives on specific topics in Tibetan Buddhism, two annual Kalachakra Retreats, and the annual Mansfield Lecture on Science and Buddhism. (Please follow this link to learn more about housing types and costs).

Special Events include annual celebrations (Losar, Uprising Day, His Holiness Birthday, and Tibet Day), as well as ritual ceremonies, for example Saka Dawa (a celebration in honor of the day Shakyamuni Buddha was born, became enlightened, and died), demonstrations of Tibetan arts and dance, and construction of a Kalachakra Sand mandala. Contact Namgyal office for more information
