Description:

One of the primary commitments of His Holiness 14^th Dalai Lama is to promote human values of compassion, loving-kindness and forgiveness among persons of all walks of life.  He is also committed to promoting religious harmony and understanding among the world’s major religious traditions.  On September 9-10, Namgyal Monastery will be hosting the Inaugural Interfaith and Secular Ethics Conference at His Holiness 14^th Dalai Lama Library and Learning Center.  There will be over twenty religious leaders from the Ithaca Community representing eight different religious traditions in discussions and interfaith dialogues about compassion, loving-kindness and forgiveness. 

In preparation for this event, Geshe-la will devote this weekend intensive to answering questions from students regarding Tibetan Buddhist views and practices of compassion, loving-kindness and forgiveness as well as how best to talk about these values in dialogues and discussions with our brothers and sisters of other faiths.  This will benefit students of all levels, both in our interactions with other attendees at the conference as well as in our daily lives with friends and family members of other religious traditions.  This is a unique opportunity to bring your questions about compassion, loving-kindness and forgiveness from the Tibetan Buddhist perspective and the challenges you face in living these values in your daily life. 

Biography:
 Geshe Jamyang Dakpa was born in the year 1976. At the age of eleven he became monk and started his primary education at the Local Monastery.  He studied in the local primary school to the age of twelve and the age of nineteen Geshe Jamyang Dakpa joined Sera Jhe Mopnastery in Bylakuppe, South India where Geshe la has studied rigorously for sixteen years on the five major treatises of Buddhism and had received 1^st position in all basic monastic education including Tibetan grammar and script, memorization of Buddhist scriptures.  While completing the Buddhist Sutra and Tantric courses such as Pharchin, Uma Dua Ngompa Zoe and Sang-ngag.

In the year 2017 Geshe Jamyang Dakpa received Lharampa degree -equivalent to PhD in 1^st Division.  In 2018 Geshe la received his Master of Trantrayana degree in 1^st division from Gyutoe Trantric University. Dharamsala.

At present he is faculty at Namgyal Monastery – Tantric College in Dharamsala, India and Geshe Jamyang Dakpa will be the main teacher at Namgyal Monastery Institute of Buddhist Studies, Ithaca, NY.
