Description: As ordinary beings during the normal course of our lives, we often intentionally or unintentionally engage in various negative actions. These can include killing other beings such as insects and animals, using harsh speech or generating negative states of mind such as anger and jealousy. Engaging in such actions, leaves a negative imprint in our minds. According to the law of karma these imprints will ripen into negative effects that create suffering in either this life or future lives unless they are purified in some way. During this weekend intensive, Geshe-la will give a more detail explanation about the accumulation of negative karma over time. He will then also provide teachings on various methods that can be used to purify negative imprints that we have accumulated. This is an excellent teaching for students at any level. For beginners, it will provide foundational understanding about how our negative actions can affect us in the future, and how to begin to counteract these.
For more experienced students, this teaching will deepen one’s understanding of karma and purification of negative imprints. As always, Geshe-la will provide ample time for questions from students on this important topic. Biography Geshe Jamyang Dakpa was born in 1976 and at the age of eleven, I become monk and started my primary education at our local monastery. In 1995, at age of nineteen I got admission at Sera Jhe Monastery in South India, where I have studied rigorously for sixteen years on the five major treatises of Buddhism and had received either first division in my every given examination. In 2011, I have started the Great Geluk Examination where I had received first position in both Karam (i.e., highest proficiency in sacred literature) and Lopon (Master Degree) exams among the monks of three great monasteries of the Gelukpa sect, as well as monks from Tashi Lhunpo and Ratoe monasteries. On my final year, I took part in the examination of research and writing on Madhyamika subject and I got first position of the first division with the distinguished title of Lharam Nga-ki Wangchuk. In 2017, I have received my Geshe Lharmapa degree (traditional degree equivalent to PhD in Buddhism). In 2018, I did my study on Buddhist trantric at Gyutoe Tantric University and received first position with Ngakram degree.
